2. Fishing in the Gorge
Flaming Gorge is one of the best spots for catching trophy lake trout in the country! Fish weighing in at over 30 pounds are not unusual; the record-holder crested 51 pounds! Anglers have plenty of great fishing locations to choose from, and are welcome to fish from a boat or the shore.
3. Flaming Gorge Dam
The Flaming Gorge Dam, built during the 1960’s, is more than 500 feet tall and 1200 feet long. For those who want a closer look at the dam’s inner workings, tours are available from April through October. Additionally, the dam’s visitor center is a goldmine of information about the region, making it a great starting point for your time at Flaming Gorge.
4. Green River
Green River meanders through the canyon just south of the Flaming Gorge Dam. This area is known for world-class fly fishing. Additionally, the waters are perfect for rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. Guided rafting tours are readily available throughout the area.
